Mr Chuah is strict about his natural farming. On this 8-acre family farm, no pesticides or even fertilisers are permitted. To keep pests in check, he lets ladybugs roam. To enrich his soil, he uses a rotation of food-based composts which contain no animal dung – a very rare move.All the extra love and nutrients for his produce shows in their firm, solid textures. Whether it’s a tomato or leaf of spinach, they yield a satisfying bite. It’s a soil-focused, ecosystem-first approach that won us over from the moment we met Mr Chuah.

Mr Chai’s Farm
Brinchang, MalaysiaMr Chai made the switch to organic farming in 2015 after noticing that his hands were getting burned by pesticides and he was having problems breathing properly.
Not only did his health begin to improve after he walked away from conventional farming – his soil also became more fertile. He has not looked back since, and now supplies our community with loads of tasty carrots, cabbage, leafies and more!

Damon’s Farm
Brinchang, MalaysiaDamon is a second-generation farmer based in Brinchang whose love of nature made him decide to take the difficult path of farming organically.
He came up against many obstacles (and still does) but feels strongly that organic methods lead to tastier produce and encourages others around him to adopt better farming practices as well. He currently grows over 25 different types of crops in Cameron Highlands, from cabbage to chard.

Uncle Selvam’s Farm
Bertam Valley, MalaysiaUncle Selvam spent the last 20 years growing strawberries in the cool highlands of Brinchang, but as global warming raised temperatures, it became harder to produce high-quality berries. Now, he tends to his 10-acre farm in Bertam Valley, where the climate and soil are well-suited for a wide variety of crops.
Most of his farm is dedicated to growing for Talula, with the help of his hardworking nephew, Shaun. Passionate about heirloom varieties, Shaun has a gift for acclimatizing seeds to Malaysia’s unique climate, ensuring that each harvest thrives.

Hatiku Agriculture
Brinchang, MalaysiaHatiku Agriculture was the first farm in the Cameron Highlands to be certified organic in 1997 and the tenacious Mr Fung has been keeping it going since. Today, with the help of only three workers, he grows a variety of leafy vegetables, and grows them well by attuning himself to nature.
He describes compost, for example, as a growing organism, and understands the care it needs to flourish. His compost is a blend unlike any other, made from scraps and microbes from the nearby forest and resulting in amazingly fertile soil. It’s Mr Fung’s way, as he describes it, of giving back to the ecosystem.
